EMS Shockwave

Radial shockwave therapy

For stubborn tendon and muscle pain that won't settle. Treatment on a genuine Swiss EMS DolorClast radial shockwave system in Leixlip.

The basics

How shockwave therapy works

A handpiece sends pressure waves through your skin into the sore tendon or muscle. It is non-invasive: no needles, no injections and no cutting.

Shockwave is commonly used for long-running problems where the tissue has stopped healing well on its own. Treatment is quick, and most people need a short course of sessions rather than just one. You will know what to expect after your first assessment.

The treatment is radial shockwave only, delivered on the Swiss EMS DolorClast Smart20.

Does it hurt?

It can be uncomfortable while the handpiece is working on a sore spot, but the intensity is adjusted to what you can manage and each treatment only takes a few minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people need a short course of sessions. Gerard will tell you what to expect after assessing you.

Is it suitable for everyone?

No. Shockwave isn't used during pregnancy, over areas with cancer or infection, if you have a blood clotting disorder or take blood-thinning medication, or on children. If you are unsure, ask your GP first.
